This garden celebrates the famous and infamous Tour de France bicycle race and its characters, as well as the grand seigneur of French cycling, Paul de Vivie. He was a tourist cycling pioneer who wrote under the pen name Vélocio and invented the derailleur gears.
The garden’s main features include formal elements, naturalistic planting and an alpine meadow and rockery. These features take us on the course of the 1903 race, from the outskirts of Paris along a winding gravel path through the rural landscape to the Alps.
