Light is the Load
“Light is the load, where many share the toil” (Homer)
This garden is an interpretation of the journey young people undertake in WorldSkills competitions. The path travels across the garden with twists and turns, passing over obstacles and steps before reaching a conclusion, the final goal of the competition. A straight path running across the rear of the garden represents the training team and their support for competitors. Stone monoliths positioned along the path depict the competitors at various points along the journey.
Informal planting in the lower area is a loose combination of spring-flowering perennials with larger specimen shrubs, whilst the raised path has a more formal feel.
