Natural Burial Site Garden
The idea for this garden came from a design for Alne Wood Park natural burial site and steers away from the formality and glitz of traditional burial grounds. An informal planting palette of white and green induces calm and symbolises regeneration and optimism. Some plants hold promise for the future, whilst others in flower accept the solemnity and sadness of the location; the clematis and Geum rivale stand with bowed heads. A bridge across a pool leads to wet and dry meadows and grassed banks. Trees provide height and represent the passage of life, from young feathered birch to more mature heavy standards.
