Trecarne Quarry (Cornwall), Wetland Plants

Room for a View

This garden nestles within a Cornish valley and features three pools, the highest and first of which is fed by natural springs.

A secluded seating area reached by stepping stones across a pool offers the chance to rest whilst listening to the sound of tumbling water and watching pond wildlife and dancing butterflies.  The reclaimed spiral staircase at the head of the central water feature not only brings a touch of humour to the design, but also adds an organic, sculptural feel.   Views of the pools and surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from the top of the staircase.  Inspiration for the design came from Trebah, near Falmouth.
