This garden celebrates 650 years of the Magistracy, reflecting its past, present and future roles.
It has been designed as a balanced space outside a courtroom above an underground car park where magistrates can sit and reflect on their work throughout the seasons. The stylised planting has a strong structural and evergreen backbone that contrasts with the softer forms of herbaceous perennials and Rosa ‘Justice of the Peace’, all planted in multiples of three as magistrates sit in threes. A water feature beneath a vertical green wall divides and balances the space, and two contemporary benches face each other.
