The charities RHS and Groundwork have asked TV presenter and landscape designer Chris Beardshaw to devise a series of gardens for this year's RHS shows, based on what landscape architects and communities have achieved together - and to show how this can change people's lives immeasurably.
The show gardens and exhibits are all different and will be on show at Cardiff, Malvern, Gardeners' World Live and Tatton - with a culmination of all the gardens in one very large exhibit at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
'All over the country people are gardening together or forming committees or groups to nurture the patches of public land near where they live', Chris says. 'I've met with people who have taken matters into their own hands and found ways to turn awkward pieces of land into places that children can play, adults can grow their own food and flowers and neighbours can sit and enjoy.'
