Rainbows Children’s Hospice Garden
This garden for the Rainbows Children’s Hospice is designed for the hospice staff and the parents of children and young people. It is a place of reflection and relaxation, with a nod to current trends.
Large frosted acrylic screens sit at angles, forming the boundary walls and creating silhouettes of people and plants. Four multistemmed amelanchier trees create height and a sunken bed of carpet planting that can only be crossed by stepping stones divides up the space. Polished York stone paving and gravel form the remaining hard landscaping, and the garden is wrapped in a belt of lush green perennial planting. The finishing touches are provided by additional digitally projected silhouettes, lighting and inviting furniture.
