The Courtyard Garden
The Courtyard Garden at the 2012 RHS Chelsea Flower Show reflects the steps to recovery that wounded soldiers will make as they work within the new Therapy Garden that is currently being constructed at Headley Court.
The design of the gardens at DMRC Headley Court and Chelsea incorporates a mixture of challenging physical exercises. These exercises are needed to master movement around the home and garden.
A recently formed charity called Gardening Leave also employs horticultural therapy with ex-service men and women. Using horticultural therapy in its many forms – from seed sowing, plant care and planting out – both military and ex-service personnel train their muscles, learn to cope with physical challenges, find rest and enjoy the fulfilment of watching things grow.
