Broadleigh Gardens
Specialises in: Spring & summer flowering bulbs & Pacific Coast Iris
This is the 40th consecutive year that Christine Skelmersdale has created Broadleigh Gardens' Chelsea exhibit and this, her last one, promises to be an exciting finale (although she is not retiring and business will continue as usual).
The display features a wide range of spring bulbs, especially ruby-coloured tulips, colour themed and arranged naturalistically as though in a garden and mixed with dramatic drumstick alliums to give height. A wrought iron fence runs through the middle of the display, designed by Michael Jacques. There is also a display of images from the early shows.
Christine Skelmersdale is launching her book A Gardener’s Guide to Bulbs (Crowood Press) at the show this year.
