Win an iPad Mini in our online competition

Telegraph Garden

All eyes are on this year’s Telegraph Garden. Its designer, Christopher Bradley-Hole, last designed a garden for the newspaper in 1997 and his ‘Latin Garden’, the first modernist garden seen at Chelsea, transformed the future design of Chelsea show gardens. It was awarded ‘Best Show Garden’ and earned international applause. In fact it is still talked about today, not least because the pairing of designer and sponsor can only signal something special for the 2013 Show.

About the Telegraph Garden

This year’s Telegraph garden is certainly an intellectual garden. It combines three ideas: the making of the English landscape, the Japanese approach to garden making, and modern abstract art. Sounds a bit complicated, but it’s not. It all makes perfect sense and if anything, it appears to be really rather straightforward, with a simple aim of drawing attention to the importance of our landscape, our understanding of it, and to encourage the appreciation and support it needs.

In the 99 years that the Chelsea Flower Show has exhibited on the Royal Hospital site, The Telegraph is the only exhibitor to be awarded the top prize of ‘Best Show Garden’ three years consecutively – 2009, 2010, and 2011. Perhaps this year will start another run.
