What Will We Leave? The NSPCC Garden of Magical Childhood
Inspired by the magic of childhood, the NSPCC’s nostalgic garden is a place of happy memories and adventures. Capturing the theme of ‘inheritance’, the garden aims to encourage contemplation on the preciousness and potential of childhood and what we wish to leave as a legacy for all children.
The garden depicts a traditional children’s tea party taking place under a treehouse, surrounded by vibrant natural planting. Vintage toys, conkers on strings, crystal dragonflies and fairy-tale toadstools add to the magical and nostalgic feel.
The centre of the garden holds ‘the wishing pond’, which is lined with pebbles that have messages written on them by NSPCC supporters. The pebbles represent legacies or ‘wishes’ that they want to pass on to future generations.
Please stay a while and reflect on the potential of childhood and the world you would like to leave for children.
