Un Garreg (One Stone)
This garden is inspired by the growing separation between man and the natural world. It demonstrates Harry and David Rich’s passion for restoring this connection by creating a humble, naturalistic space crafted from one stone.
A balance of stone and oak blends naturally below the tree canopy, softened by the textures and tones of the planting. Two large rocks protrude from the dry stone walls that form an irregular boundary. A sculpted oak bench firmly rooted between the rocks provides a small seating space for relaxing.
Dry stone walls, woodland and old stone paths depict a vision of the Welsh landscape. Using one quarry and one stone to craft the hard landscaping shows how a garden’s carbon footprint can be kept to a minimum.
