The garden is designed to highlight the importance of roadside verges as havens for biodiversity and to raise awareness of the problem of fly tipping, which is becoming increasing common on the urban fringes of Cardiff.
Roadside verges are often important wildlife corridors, offering valuable habitats for bees, butterflies, moths, small mammals and hedgerows for nesting birds. They are relatively undisturbed despite their busy location.
