The early-season show at Cardiff gives exhibitors the opportunity to show off the beauty of spring-flowers set against majestic trees and shrubs and contrasting hard landscape within Bute Park.
The naturalistic Heronsbridge School Artful Bodger's Garden designed by Andrea Guthrie, won Gold and Best in Show at RHS Show Cardiff 2013, and demonstrates the ancient craft of bodging - making chair legs and other forestry products. Up-cycle, designed by Victoria Wade & Andrew Nicol (Wade & Nicol Landscapes), also won a gold medal.
The best exhibit in the marquee went to Ron Scamp Quality Daffodils, of Cornwall (pictured above), who put on a remarkable display of cut flowers. The cool weather intensified the colours of some of the many different cultivars, some of which were on display for the first time at this show.
Competitive spirit was high in the School Wheelbarrow Competition this year as local primary schools vied to win. All entries were creative and colourful - see our gallery of wheelbarrow images.
