Coastal Drift
This garden forms part of a larger garden and is somewhere to relax and unwind. It features plants and materials associated with the coast such as sun-bleached timber, pebbles and shingle. The planting includes coastal plants that tolerate salt wind and grow well in free-draining soil. The shape of the wall and the planting scheme have been designed to represent the waves.
The back feature wall is curved and planted with grasses. The swathes of grasses add movement, and their movement and colour, including blue-green tones of the Eucalyptus gunnii, enhance the coastal theme.
This design won the Student Design & Build Award competition run by Wyevale East Nurseries.
