Russian Museum Garden
This garden’s ambitious aim is to encapsulate the splendour and history of St Petersburg in just 120 square metres. St Petersburg is known as the Venice of the North because it is built on a series of islands linked by more than 300 bridges. The garden’s design reflects this and highlights the fact that the city, with its distinctive onion-shaped cupolas, has some of the most breathtaking architecture in Europe.
St Petersburg boasts numerous museums; the State Russian Museum holds the world’s largest collection of Russian art from the 10th century to the present day, offering a visual narrative of the turbulent history of Russia and its people. The artwork is housed in fabulous palaces, including the famous Stroganov Palace.
