As a resident of Tottenham, Daniel Shea was inspired to design a garden in response to the destruction caused by last summer’s riots. As the regeneration of affected areas gets underway, his design explores the benefits that horticulture and naturalistic planting can bring to urban environments, whilst also channelling negative energy into something positive.
The garden depicts an urban landscape and features large towers, a dynamic zig-zag path and fractured laminated glass. The planting scheme, inspired by the blazes of the riots, uses perennials and soothing grasses to soften the imposing elements of the garden.
