The theme of the garden is based on Grimm’s fairy tale The Red Shoes and is about how people are judged by their looks. It is set in a generic pine forest.

At the centre of the garden is a hut containing 100 red shoes. A sawdust path leads from a single pair of shoes, in a cold frame, to the entrance of the hut. Through doors you can catch a glimpse of the red shoes. Some of the imagery has been inspired by the works of surrealist painters.
