The garden shows how a modern garden can be adapted to deal with the more frequent extremes of weather and climate change.
The design includes a tiered area that allows water to run off naturally into a water storage pond. Raised planters alongside ensure that if the garden were to experience high rainfall, plants would have a better chance of survival. Integrated irrigation systems allow plants to cope in periods of drought. Following the theme of climate change adaptation and mitigation, the garden incorporates recycled materials and products as well as low carbon technologies provided by companies who have worked with Envirolink Northwest.
