The natural and industrial heritage of Point of Ayr, the northernmost point of mainland Wales, is the inspiration for this garden. Horizontal structures represent three pipelines stretching out to sea. Ashore, the structures transform into vertical sculptures inspired by the natural contours and differing heights of the dunes.
Drifts of ornamental grasses create a calming movement reminiscent of the mood of the dunes. A top dressing of coal provides contrasting form and texture and illustrates the area’s mining heritage. The garden is designed to reflect the fact that the area depicted is not confined within boundaries so the garden should be viewed from all sides.
