Disabled people, including disabled veterans, at Finchale College in Durham, have designed and executed The Schedule. It celebrates the time when, especially in the north, the allotment was dominated by the Leek Show, or The Show Schedule.

Growing methods and secret recipes were handed down across generations. Valuable prizes and personal pride meant that there was fierce competition and the growing season was dominated by “The Schedule”. Growing the biggest and best leeks was the main aim, but there was also a schedule of other classes such as super-sized carrots, parsnips and other vegetables.
