See the first ever Ladies Day

The RHS Flower Show Tatton Park will be hosting its first ever Ladies’ Day on Thursday 21 July 2011.

Throughout the day there will be fashion shows and designer talks and visitors will be invited to ask questions and speak to the designers. Ladies’ Day is the perfect opportunity for visitors to dress up and organisers will be presenting a bottle of champagne to the best dressed. Speakers on the day will include glamorous gardener and presenter Rachel de Thame and former milliner to the Royals Adrian Phillip Howard.

Rachel de Thame has had career success as both a model and actress, but is best known now for her work as a gardening guru and TV presenter. In addition to presenting programmes including BBC Gardeners’ World, Rachel has written two gardening books as well as writing regularly for various national newspapers.

Adrian Philip Howard began his career in millinery in Germany before embarking on an apprenticeship with Phillip Somerville, milliner to Her Majesty the Queen. He remained with Phillip Somerville, honing his craft and increasing his knowledge of traditional millinery skills until Mr Somerville’s retirement. Now official milliner of Fortnum & Mason, Adrian Howard has won numerous national and international millinery competitions.

Bespoke Ladies Day hats

Cheshire’s Gardens of Distinction area have commissioned Katherine Lee, bespoke millinery, to design Ladies Day hats reflecting the designs from our show gardens and back-to-backs.

These will be on display by each garden on Wednesday 20 July and Thursday 21 July. Katherine will also be within the exhibit ready to answer any question on the day.

Fashion shows

Ladies’ Day will include fashion shows throughout the day showcasing cutting edge fashion from the North West’s young designers. In the afternoon the attention will turn to the audience when the best dressed lady of the day will be announced.

Fortnum & Mason event

Fortnum & Mason will also be hosting a special ladies’ evening event offering an exclusive view of the Show, with the opportunity to speak to exhibitors, followed by a cocktail party in the Floral Marquee. Fortnum & Mason will also be hosting an exclusive limited-entry dinner, prepared by the Fortnum’s chefs.

Tickets for both the day and evening events on Thursday 21 July are available now and are sure to sell out soon.
