Gardening plus glamour and fine food
As well as a host of show gardens and exhibits, there are some exciting new events and features at Tatton Park this year.
To bring more than just a touch of glamour to the show, Ladies' Day on Thursday 21 July includes a fashion show, a talk by Rachel de Thame and a dinner from Fortnum & Mason. There's also a prize for the best-dressed lady on the day.
A menu of interesting, informative and entertaining talks is on at the RHS Talks Theatre (opposite the newly located RHS Floral Marquee on Avenue A). Speakers for 2011 include Matthew Biggs, garden broadcaster and author, and Colin Crosbie, Curator of RHS Garden Wisley, among others.
Next door to the RHS Talks Theatre is the Great Tastes Market. In partnership with the Guild of Fine Foods, 30 exhibitors will be offering high-quality food and drink to show visitors.
In the west corner of the show there is opportunity to shop at the Country Living Magazine Pavilion, home to beautiful and unique products for homes and gardens.
Opposite the Country Living Magazine Pavilion is the Schools' Container Competition. Last year's 'Tunes & Blooms' was so successful that, this year, schools from the North West will be planting containers to attract 'Beautiful Butterflies and Busy Bees'. Visitors will be to judge their favourite container and vote for them.
Nearby, returning to the show is Winsford Education Partnership. Their 28 schools will be creating 'front to front ' gardens on a theme of 'Countries of the World'.
Near to the 'School front to front' gardens', Row 2 is the venue for the RHS National Flowerbed Competition - 14 local authority and community groups are to design a themed flowerbed.
