Air on a Green String
Air on a Green String takes its inspiration from the string instruments found in an orchestra. A sumptuous colour palette of velvety red, pink and ivory white combined with fine foliage and delicate flowers creates a sense of movement, representing the beautiful and evocative music produced by the violin. Bold box topiary trained in the shape of a violin’s f-sound hole sweeps across the path.
At the back of the garden a semi-circular stage is surrounded by a domed pergola covered in climbers. Painted violins and cellos that are overgrown with plants are suspended from the pergola and part-buried around the garden. The Italian style of the garden pays homage to the first true violin, which was invented in Italy in the 16th century.
