This garden highlights the dangers of GM crops. A couple who enjoy growing fruit trees, vegetables and flowers plant a genetically modified blueberry bush in their garden and the following summer an enormous fruit appears that crashes through the garden wall, crushing plants and an unfortunate rabbit.

The garden indicates that it is not only agriculture that could be damaged by GM experimentation, but the wider natural world. The title Hindsight reflects that although most of us might have work-related regrets and wish we could change things, a genetic scientist may not have the opportunity to change his work once it is out there in the natural world.

The designer is not stating that he is completely against the use of GM crops; what would he do when faced with a future of starving children versus the potential of GM crops to feed them – a difficult question?
