The design of this garden depicts a woman's journey from entering to leaving prison, showing the progression made on the way in relation to education, health and wellbeing.

The inspiration behind the garden is a Reflection Garden designed and constructed by learners within the prison working alongside Manchester College. The Reflection Garden was officially opened by Terry Waite, who acknowledged the journey that each of the learners had undergone during their time in prison. Metamorphosis reflects a woman's journey through life and the way in which every individual has potential that can be unlocked.

The design also highlights the interaction between bees and the natural world, showing how society could benefit by adopting the bees’ sense of community.
