The Modern Romantics
The inspiration behind this contemporary, romantic design comes from the pre-Raphaelite painting Sleeping Beauty by Burne-Jones, and from Hambridge Watermill. The foliage from Betula ‘Royal Frost’ represents the knight’s journey and provides a contrast to the roses. Two gothic half-arches appear to become whole when viewed from a specific point. The stainless steel water spout and balustrade inject a sense of the modern, mixed with traditional dry stone walling.
The curves of the rills that feed into the mill pond resemble that of a natural river, and a limestone path meanders through the garden.
