Always There celebrates National Samaritans Day that takes place during show week on 24 July 2008. The garden is a tribute to the Samaritans listening service that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As such, the garden is designed for use day and night with lighting to demonstrate its potential in the dark.

The unpredictable journey of life is symbolised by an uneven path through the garden, and an untended part of the garden represents places in the world and in the person that are not immediately accessible.

Vertical structures represent different phases of life and are made of different materials accordingly; for example, the old age pieces are large and made from rusting steel. A water area adds to the representation of movement and change in life as it is never stationary.
