RHS January London Flower Show
Report and images: Tim Sandall
The flower show season started in earnest again this week (17-18 January) when the RHS staged its first London Flower Show of the season in The Lawrance Hall. Twenty five exhibitors from around the country assembled in London and staged a wonderfully colourful show. Spring-flowering bulbs, trees and shrubs, air plants, pot plants and cut flowers filled the hall with a sense of spring. A botanical art competition, sundries and an ornamental plant competition completed the spectacle.
One of the highlights was the first showing of a yellow Hippeastrum which caught the eye of the many visitors who turned out to enjoy this event. The judges, who also must have enjoyed this show, awarded five Gold Medals to the floral exhibits.
