Step into Spring with tulips Step into Spring

Hyde Hall is coming to life again after the cold winter, with the garden bursting into bloom, heralding the start of the new gardening year. Adding a much needed splash of colour are the tulips and Narcissus that adorn the lush green lawns, while in the Woodland Garden you can admire the many beautiful shades of the camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons and hellebores.

We've got some great events happening over the next three months to welcome in spring. We'd love to see you here!

The reservoir at Hyde Hall Water wisely

RHS Garden Hyde Hall and Essex & Suffolk Water (ESW) have enjoyed a long relationship. We are grateful for their support over the years which has enabled us to undertake projects that enhance the garden, educate our visitors about the wise use of water in the garden and take a positive step towards the conservation of a precious resource.

Garden Guide

Hyde Hall Garden Guide

The RHS has published new guides for each of its four gardens, to help people enjoy and make the most of a visit.
The guide includes details on what to see and which areas are at their best during various seasons. There is information on the National Plant Collections, and the Curator explains how local climatic and soil conditions have influenced gardening on the site.
The guide is available from the garden entrance and shop at the reduced price of just £2.00 (previously £3.50).

Hyde Hall is an oasis of calm and serenity amid the sprawling urbanisation that for many people characterises Essex. A visit to the 360-acre estate is unforgettable in any season and allows visitors to immerse themselves in nature. The cultivated area of the garden - in excess of 24 acres - demonstrates an eclectic range of inspirational horticultural styles from the formality of clipped hedges on the Hilltop Garden to the naturalistic drifts of planting on Clover Hill. The wilder peripheries of the estate comprise sapling woodland, meadows and a Garden for Wildlife.
