Clover HillClover Hill

The area known as Clover Hill has been in gradual development since 1998, with more beds cultivated and planted, and adjustments made to existing beds. This part of the garden is in direct contrast to the formal Hilltop Garden, as it is profoundly naturalistic, with vast swathes of grasses and perennials flowing down the hill giving the impression that the area is in constant flux. The colours on the upper beds are predominantly warm oranges, deep purples and dark pinks, whilst the lower beds begin to fade into softer pastel colours to blend into the surrounding landscape.

Recent additions to Clover Hill include a solid oak gazebo at the top of the hill and crescent shaped benches at the bottom end. The gazebo is surrounded by a mixture of shrubs and perennials such as the fantastically fragrant Rosa ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ and the recently introduced Echinacea ‘Art’s Pride’.
