Winter Wildlife

As the cold weather approaches, now is the time to make your garden a winter haven for wildlife. You can do as much or as little as you like – from putting up a nestbox, to simply leaving out winter food for the birds and other creatures. We have a large range of products to help you - a variety of different bird and animal foods, tailored for specific species requirements sit alongside nest boxes for birds, hedgehogs, bees and other creatures. We also stock Mr McGregor’s Garden range, a selection of charming kits designed to help make your very own Mr McGregor’s garden. We have a fantastic range of gardening goodies, both pretty and useful, for our lovely ladies. We’ve got lots of tools, in delicate colours, for all those tough little jobs. There are Hunter wellington boots and clogs in pretty patterns and trowels, tapemeasure and other items from the V & A ‘pretty useful tools’ range.

• Reduce watering of house plants. Many benefit by being moved onto a sunnier windowsill.
• Use winter pruning to remove diseased wood from fruit trees.
• Prune back longer growth on roses to reduce damage from wind rock.
• More tender plants can be protected with mulches and fleece over straw packed between branches.
