About the RHS

Established in 1804, the Royal Horticultural Society is now the UK's leading gardening charity dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting good gardening.

Our goal is to help people share a passion for plants, to encourage excellence in horticulture and inspire all those with an interest in gardening.

Support us

Horticultural science, plant trials, advisory service, education and improvements to our gardens, shows and events are at the forefront of the Society's charitable remit. But as we receive no government funding and members' subscriptions only provide around a quarter of funds needed for our charitable work, we rely on donations, legacies, sponsorship and voluntary work .

Britain in Bloom

Britain in Bloom is the largest horticultural campaign in Europe. Every year, hundreds of communities are involved - from tiny rural villages to the largest cities - all bringing horticultural skill and enthusiasm to one common aim: to regenerate local environments. Britain in Bloom is organised by the RHS, in partnership with in partnership with Shredded Wheat, and we will strive to effectively promote and enhance the competition, to provide sound support and advice for entries, and contribute to horticultural expertise throughout British communities.
