Butyl rubber liners are easier to repair than PVC although they can be difficult in the area of any folds.

A kit is available for each type of liner consisting of a special glue and patch. Before applying the patch the area to be repaired must be thoroughly cleaned and dried. Follow the instructions on the kit, but make sure that the glue has set before filling the pool with water.

Enlarge the crack and roughen edges to make it easier to in-fill. Mix one part cement to two parts sand and four parts gravel, with some added waterproofing compound, and mix to a stiff but moist consistency. After filling the crack leave for up to a week and apply a sealing compound. If repairs are not effective the pool may need to be lined with a butyl liner.
