2008 RHS Britain in Bloom Winner: Small City/Large Town

 

Taunton received a Silver Gilt Award

 

It was evident to the judges on the tour that everybody was committed to Taunton in Bloom. This Somerset town was awash with colour throughout and the level of sponsorship that had been committed to the campaign was commendable.

Taunton’s campaign strives to improve the tidiness, appearance and visual appeal of its open spaces, neighbourhoods, parks, and streets through the imaginative use of flowers, plants and trees. A focus on the preservation of heritage and culture is also an integral part of their work resulting in an improved quality of life. Taunton Council is to be congratulated on the development of a new plant nursery, which will ensure that all the excellent quality and variety of summer displays continue in the future.
