Bury St Edmunds has a worldwide reputation for its superb year-round floral displays, and for the spectacular planting in the award-winning Abbey Gardens. However, since its inception in 1986, the Bury in Bloom campaign has evolved to embrace the modern In Bloom ethos of sustainability, biodiversity and community involvement.
The strong partnership with local schools continues to grow, encouraging all age groups to plant, sustain and observe flowers, vegetables and wildlife on their plots. Groups across the whole community plan projects reflecting the importance of sustaining a diverse environment and providing habitats for bats, birds and bugs.
For 21 years, Bury in Bloom, with St Edmundsbury Borough Council, has provided the means to enhance the charms of this historic market town with beautiful planting. Now it is proud to underpin the floral delights with a solid commitment to sustainability and biodiversity that runs through the entire community.
