Darley

Yorkshire
2007 RHS Britain in Bloom Winner: Village

Darley 2007

Darley is a rural village set in the Nidderdale Valley in North Yorkshire in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is unusual in that it is a linear village, stretching over a mile, with the village pub at one end and the school at the other. Traditional stone farm houses and cottages sit alongside barn conversions and modern housing developments.

Darley has a thriving community who support each other in a wide range of activities. The Darley in Bloom group are volunteers who spend their time planting, digging, clearing, fund-raising and working with young people in the village. Their aim is to improve and care for their environment, and the efforts of Darley in Bloom can be seen at every corner.

Darley received a Gold Award
