This garden is divided into three clearly defined areas with a 2m (6.5ft) high rear wall painted a strong and dominant crimson. A second wall 1.8m (6ft) high (with a 30/60 degree cut-out in elevation) separates the two largest areas.
The smallest area to the rear left is planting, loosely triangular in shape and with a specimen tree at its centre. Plant interest here is loosely contained behind a height-descending barrier of vertical posts, and looking as though it's trying to escape.
The second largest area to the rear right is also loosely triangular. This is a simple body of water with a rectangular sandstone water feature attached to the rear wall, allowing a gentle descent to the pond below. A row of Iris laevigata stands guard down the separated right edge as though part of the pond.
The third and the largest is the main 'living' area. Sandstone edging and walkways draw the eye's attention from both front corners left and right to points of interest further into the garden. The left view directed towards the water feature in area two and the right view directed towards the specimen tree in area one. This area is dominated by the scale and shape of the strong geometric wall behind which lies the pool. A further triangular planting pocket is sited central to the front of the garden. A simple geometric timber bench sits in front of the wall, emphasizing the walls uncompromising shape.
