This garden explores how a couple who have moved house can make their own mark in an already beautiful established garden, by introducing contemporary designs, materials and modern landscaping. The finishing touches include stunning planting that sits comfortably alongside the established planting.
To
achieve his vision, Alan Sargent has well-established plants and trees forming
the outside edge of his garden and the centre incorporating contemporary boulders,
striking planting and a spring running through the garden with three streams
merging and eventually flowing into a still pond. Towering over the garden
are five impressive acers, aged between 50 and 100 years old.
Since 1989 Alan has won some 60 RHS medals and is now head gardener on the
Goodwood Estate.
