The Official Video & DVD of Chelsea Flower Show 2005
Scenes from this year’s Chelsea Flower Show are captured on this souvenir video and DVD edition presented by BBC2’s Gardens Through Time presenter and garden designer Jane Owen. The award-winning national gardening journalist explores the many sensational designs and planting which make the five-day show the definitive gardening event of the year.
Combining the world’s best in design, plants and expertise, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show video and DVD displays everything from the grandeur of the Great Pavilion to the individual brilliance of the many Show, Chic, City, Courtyard and Sunflower Street gardens. Once again top garden designers, such as Diarmuid Gavin and Sir Terence Conrad, provide inspiration for rural and urban gardeners alike.
After making its spectacular debut last year, the Great Pavilion showcases a dazzling array of plants, bringing sights and smells from around the world to form the centrepiece of the show. These range from first-time exhibitors such as Borneo Exotics based in Sri Lanka, to the Chelsea veterans Hillier Nurseries who are competing this year for their 60th consecutive RHS Gold Medal.
The environment is an important theme once again with TV gardener Chris Beardshaw constructing a garden for WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) while The Real Rubbish Garden by the RSPB and SITA Environmental Trust proves that a garden does not have to be wild to be attractive to wildlife.
It takes 800 people three days of effort and dedication to conjure up the world-famous garden extravaganza, and this souvenir video and DVD provides the ideal memento of the occasion, capturing the magic that is the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
