The NS&I Garden is an urban roof garden designed for a young, professional couple requiring a sophisticated space that relates to the interior of their modern urban apartment. The design was inspired by a bold and original sculpture called The Architect by artist Jilly Sutton. The sculpture is reflected in a pool and works as a focus for the garden.
The space is part of a larger garden and includes versatile features such as a bespoke lightweight moveable planter and adjustable tabletops in the seating area. The design of these features introduces flexibility into the garden, creating the opportunity for work or leisure and entertaining.
Bespoke Portuguese limestone pavers unify with shapes in the sculpture. The walls are decorated with strips of limestone to create interest and to balance the composition with the sculpture.
The planting is restricted to four raised planters and features striking and architectural plants from the Restionaceae family and various rich coloured irises.
