This exhibit is a typical bit of scenery from East Anglia. It is inspired by a rose-tinted memory of the area of East Anglian fens where the garden designer, Sheila Fishwick, spent her childhood.
In Wetland Edge a garden is situated alongside a drainage dyke that has a bridge. Native plants flourish along the banks and in adjoining meadowland, contrasting with the ordered cottage garden plants. A path of reclaimed tiles leads from the bridge to a gate, which is situated within two flint walls.
Wetland Edge includes many native plants, which Sheila hopes will demonstrate how natives can be incorporated into the garden. A number of the plants have been selected because they support and encourage wildlife. Many of the items in this garden are recycled and reused.
