Topiary
The display is called A Topiary Garden. The inspiration behind George Carter’s design is the jewel-like green ‘cabinets’ set within the formal woods of late 17th century gardens where a variety of hedging and topiary create a series of garden rooms.

The Dig for Victory section of the displayThompson & Morgan in conjunction with Three Countries Potatoes
Potatoes
From ancient 'Mayan Gold' potatoes, to the Irish Potato Famine 'Lumper' right upto modern day blight-resistant Sarpo cultivars – these plus another 97 will take pride of place on the Thompson & Morgan/Three Countries Potatoes Potatoes Through the Ages display. This takes the visitor through the history of the potato starting with ancient cultivars such as 'Mayan Gold', a descendent of wild potatoes eaten by inhabitants of the Andes more than 10,000 years ago. The next section of the display covers the introduction of the potato to Europe including the cultivar ‘Lumper’. The third covers war time and dig for victoruy and the final section brings things bang up to date. Each of the four sections of the exhibit displays a wide selection of cultivars discovered in that time period.
