“I think Chelsea this year is great. It’s of a very high standard. It’s diverse too and the gardens are in genres.
"There's a lot of greenery with Cleve West’s garden and Tom Stuart Smith and even Andy Sturgeon and then there’s the more futuristic gardens of Philip Nixon and Trevor Tooth. There’s a spoke effect but they all have good design traditions. It’s so interesting to see design applied to all the different genres.
"Arabella Lennox-Boyd’s garden is growing on me. It’s calming and it’s very brave and it will be very interesting to see what the judges think of it.”
