Sir Terrence Conran
Sir Terrence Conran joined forces with bad boy Diarmuid at this year’s show to create a sunny café garden.
“It’s a huge amount of hard work. It’s a good atmosphere among the people building the gardens. I can’t say that the designers are very nice about each other. They are very competitive and a bit bitchy, which is funny because my main work is as an architect and interior designer where they are not bitchy about each other, it’s something about garden design I think.
“I’ve worked with Dairmuid on this garden, it’s his creation, but I’ve helped hime with things in the café and the furniture - but I’ve not had my hands in the soil.
“I think there are some fine gardens here and I fear that the RHS judges may find this one a bit too charming and amusing, a bit too much Joie de Vivre, but I really love the happy charming effect at the front and the dark decadent glade at the back.”
