A peaceful, sensory garden inspired by Paddington Bear, the fundraising mascot for Action Medical Research. The marmalade garden features a sweeping pathway with dark grey gravel slate and railway sleepers to represent Paddington’s long journey from darkest Peru to Paddington station. The symphony of reds, oranges and yellows in circular beds are colourful and distracting and represents giant jars of marmalade.
Yellow and orange hues are created in part by the ‘Touching Lives’ rose, a new rose launched at the show for Action Medical Research. Grey/green fencing offsets the vibrant orange. Many of the plants - which include grasses, annuals, perennials, climbers and shrubs - in the garden are attractive to birds, bees and butterflies and include perennials such as Hemerocalis, Astrantia, Crocosmia and Euphorbia, grasses such as Carex oshimensis ‘Evergold’ and Stipa gigantea, shrubs including Leycesteria formosa, Brachyglottis (Dunedin Group) ‘Sunshine’ and Thymus vulgaris ‘Silver Posie’.
