23 year-old Andrea Lowe, a third year landscape and garden design student at Writtle College in Essex, creates a stylish and classy entertaining space following a green, white and black colour scheme. The planting is lush and variable including a selection of herbs, cutting flowers and more permanent plants which will provide winter interest.
The idea of double uses is fulfilled in the way the water feature is covered so the full floor space can be used to its maximum potential and that the flower beds have a thick wooden edge to provide additional seating. At night, the garden will be illuminated from under the mesh grill above a pool. Individual blue LEDs sway on stalks among the planting to add an element of enchantment.
Agapanthus, Actaea simplex, Astrantia, Clematis, Delphinium, Hosta, Nicotiana sylvestris, Lavandula augustifolia and Viola makes up some of the planting list.
