A tranquil town garden for stressed out city folk. The garden is surrounded by walls covered in lush climbers and there's an area of slate paving edged with roofing slates set vertically side by side. These hard features are contrasted by the tear-shaped sunken seating area which is accessed via a gently sloping chamomile lawn, edged with a rill that feeds the pool (covered by a circular metal grill) beneath a glass table.
There is a backdrop of lush green planting and a quarter circle pergola in the far left corner to give more seclusion from tall buildings and overlooking windows. The planting colour palette is limited to white, pink and mauve. Beneath the pergola will be shade-loving woodland plants such as ferns.
Filmscapes Ltd (a family-run business) works all over the UK on horticultural projects and on films and television programmes providing plants from their own nursery in Surrey. Lucinda, joint director alongside her father, has worked on films such as the Harry Potter series and The Cat’s Meow.
