This intimate, romantic, city garden provides a secluded spot for lovers - an outdoor living area where the owners can privately indulge in their passions! The design incorporates warm colours, sensual lines and stimulating planting. A slate path leads through a lushly planted garden of chocolate, cinnamon, red, orange and black to a cosy, private raised platform sheltered by a canvas shell-shaped screen. A copper sculpture of a couple sitting, embracing, forms a focal point at the rear of the platform. Planting will include astrantias, roses, campanulas, achilleas, hostas and acers.

The garden is a joint design by four women who met on a planting design course in Devon. The team won an RHS Gold Medal at Gardeners’ World Live 2004 and hope to repeat the success at Hampton this year. Catherine (27) originally trained as a civil engineer but took an RHS General Certificate in Horticulture and changed her career path two years ago. Liz is a part-time GP and is currently studying for an RHS General Certificate. Sue works in the pathology department of a local hospital and sees gardening and garden design as an excellent means of relaxation. Louise is a graduate in the history of design and visual arts and is based in Cardiff and currently works at the National Museum & Gallery, Cardiff. Louise has always gardened, starting by trial and error then progressing to the RHS syllabus.
