This garden is intended to make a positive and reaffirming statement about the power of nature to repair, restore and regenerate. It is a comment on the remorseless destruction of the earth’s natural resources by man’s industry, yet perhaps in a post-apocalyptic world, nature will prevail and a new Eden will be created. The design is inspired by the Diusborg-Nord Landscape Park in Germany and features industrial materials such as corten steel and coarse aggregates in combination with grasses, birch trees and weeds. This seemingly contradictory combination of hard, brutalistic materials with soft planting can be aesthetically appealing, even beautiful.

Vaughan graduated with an MA in Landscape Architecture in 2005 which was followed by City and Guild qualifications in Hard Landscape Construction, the National Certificate for Horticulture and his current course of the diploma in Garden Design.
